The tonewheel engine

Hardware, mathematically proven.

Most tonewheel plugins use theoretical algorithms or huge sample libraries. RB3 synthesizes every tonewheel, with the harmonics, wheel-to-wheel bleed, hum and pitch drift measured from four real organs.

Add a 9-contact physical key-click model and you get an instrument that breathes like the real thing.

Play a chord, and a real B3 quietly gives a little back — tonewheels shared by more key contacts lose output as the load increases. Many emulations don't model it at all, or tie it to the registration instead of to what you play. RB3 models it per tonewheel, scaled to how many contacts actually share each wheel.

Every B3 sounds a little different. Pick yours.

Organ Character

Five characters built from measured differences between real organs: Typical, Clean, Worn / Bright, Leaky / Humming and a European 50 Hz organ.

Drive Mode

Set up the pedal and the drive three ways, like on modern stage organs: the pedal drives the overdrive, the pedal only sets the volume, or the pedal only sets the grit.

Iron and tubes

The organ's matching transformer, which compresses big chords and lets them breathe, and the warm color of its own preamp tubes, each on its own control.

20 presets

Ten factory presets and ten of your own, each with its own trigger: recall one mid-song from a MIDI foot controller, or with Program Change from your DAW.

The rotary speaker

A rotary speaker that actually moves air.

Per-degree convolution across 360 impulse-response slices, synthesized from the cabinet geometry you set. Three cabinets — 122 / 147, Studio 12 and G37 — each with its own horn, drum, crossover and tone, fitted to that cabinet's measured response.

Rubigo RB3 rotary settings: horn, drum, cabinet, power amp and microphones

Real-time physics

IR slices crossfade as the virtual rotor spins, reproducing the Doppler shift and cabinet resonance of a vintage rotary cabinet.

Total control

Edit the horn geometry directly: radius, mic distance, beam focus. The impulse responses are rebuilt from your settings, not baked in.

Dynamic airflow

Independent horn and drum acceleration, with wind turbulence and mechanical noise that follow the rotation speed like the real cabinet.

The amp chain

Trained from the original circuit. Not a generic saturator.

Every component in the real AO28 preamp and the 122 cabinet's power amp, from the actual datasheets — not approximated, not guessed. We trained a neural network — the latest technology in amp emulation — directly on the circuit's own behavior: the 122's power amp included, down to its own tube growl.
